COLVALE: Colvale Police have registered Crime No. 06/2026 under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act, Section 87-F of the Goa, Daman & Diu Public Health Act, 1985, and Section 42 of the Prisons Act, 1894, in connection with the recovery of narcotics and prohibited items from Central Jail, Colvale.
The FIR was registered on 11 January 2026 at 4.30 am on the complaint of Mahesh Fadte, Deputy Superintendent, Central Jail, Colvale. He stated that a joint search operation was conducted in the jail on 10 January 2026 between 2.55 pm and 6.05 pm covering all blocks of the prison.
During the search, jail authorities and police recovered three round-shaped blackish sticky substances suspected to be charas, weighing 30 grams and valued at approximately ₹30,000, from the NDPS block. The team also seized 15 green-coloured packets of “Golden Virginia” tobacco, along with loose tobacco wrapped in paper and transparent sheets, collectively valued at about ₹9,000.
In addition, 26 mobile phones of different makes and models, along with chargers and other prohibited articles, were also recovered. All seized items were attached under a panchanama.
The case has been registered against unknown inmates of Central Jail, Colvale, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Rohan Madgaonkar of Colvale Police Station.
