BAMBOLIM: The contract nurses of Goa Medical College have demanded regularisation of services or renewal of their contracts at the earliest.
In a letter to the Director of Health Services, the nurses have said that with the recent Pandemic situation, it has been proven that the urgent need of nurses to provide medical care to our people has become of great importance for the state of Goa and the lives of the people and we as the frontliners to any medical situation have kept our promise to save lives.
“However, to our sacrifices that we as Nurses have taken, we need to ensure that the Govt and the authorities protect our own well being by ensuring our needs for job security has been taken care of,” the nurses wrote.
They said that as of 19th October 2021, they have received no update on our renewal requirements on their employment status as Contract Nurses and have been unemployed since then.
“We are also hoping that our status be changed from Contract Nurses to Permanently employed so that we can continue to contribute to protecting the people of Goa in this ongoing Pandemic,” they said.
The nurses have two clear demands 1. Issue the renewal of our services with immediate effect 2. Start the process to provide us with permanent job status.
