BICHOLIM: Police have registered a case against a Valpoi-based contractor for allegedly cheating a supplier of steel rods worth ₹1.5 lakh.
According to Bicholim Police, complainant Lingraj Anand Murgodi, a resident of Bordem, alleged that on August 4, after 7.55 am, the accused Yasin Shaikh alias Arman Vasta, owner of M/s Fatima Construction, fraudulently placed an order for 50 bundles of 8 mm TMT steel rods over a phone call.
The order, valued at ₹1,50,000, was to be delivered near Aadhaar Hospital, Sarvan, Bicholim. Police said that after taking delivery, the accused allegedly misappropriated the consignment for personal benefit and failed to make the payment or return the goods, thereby causing financial loss to the complainant.
Bicholim Police have registered an offence under Sections 316(2), 318(1), 318(2), 318(3), and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Investigations are underway.
