MARGAO: Tension prevailed at the Police Stations in Margao and Mapusa after a large number of Muslims staged a protest against the derogatory comments made against Prophet Muhammad on social media.
They demanded the immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in making the abusive comments against Prophet Muhammad.
The protestors were told to give their complaint promising that the police would initiate action.
Margao police station and Mapusa PS in charge rushed to their respective police station after the huge group assembled at the entrance to the police station demanding justice.
After giving them a patient hearing, PI Tulsidas told the protestors to give their complaint promising that the police would initiate action.
One of the protestors Kudbuddin Nadaf said the sentiments of the Muslim community have been hurt by the derogatory comments made against Prophet Muhammad.
“We demand the immediate arrest of the person involved in hurting our religious sentiments. We Muslims have never made any abusive comments against the Hindus and their Gods”, he said.
Nadaf warned that the protestors would return at the police station if the culprit is not arrested immediately.
The people gathered said that they have lodged a complaint against for hurting Muslims sentiments by mocking and insulting Prophet Muhammad.
The complainant has demanded registration of First Information Report and immediate arrest of the alleged accused.
“We have registered filed police complaint against for using insulting remarks against Prophet Mohammed and allegedly hurting the religious sentiments on social media,” they said
Citing the Prophet as honest, just merciful, compassionate, truthful and a brave human being, Muslim said that insulting remarks against the Prophet could lead to disruption of peace and harmony.
