CORTALIM: In a significant infrastructure push, Cortalim Zilla Panchayat (ZP) member Merciana Vas on Thursday morning launched the paver laying works at Kurpawado in Quelossim Panchayat jurisdiction.
The project, estimated at approximately ₹10 lakh, is being undertaken through ZP funds with additional support from the 15th Finance Commission. The launch was attended by Quelossim Panchayat Sarpanch Francisco Xavier Figueredo along with other panchayat members.
Addressing the media, Vas highlighted the challenges faced by the residents of Kurpawado due to the narrow and deteriorated access road.
“The people in this area have long faced inconvenience due to the poor condition of the roads. This project aims to lay pavers along the main access road and internal pathways, ensuring better connectivity and ease of movement,” said Vas.
She further urged residents to cooperate with the contractor during the execution of the works, given the close proximity of houses in the area.
The paver-laying works are expected to be completed within two weeks.
