CORTALIM: Cortalim Zilla Panchayat (ZP) member Metciana Vas today launched the much-needed construction of a new road at Velwado in Queloossim. The inauguration was attended by Queloossim Sarpanch Francis Xavier Figueiredo, other panchayat members, and local residents.
Speaking to the media, Vas highlighted that the road project was undertaken under ZP funds to address the long-standing issue faced by the residents.
“The cost of the road is around ₹6 lakhs. This was an old road that had become completely dilapidated. Though work on this road was started long ago, several residents approached me with requests to get it completed. I decided to take up the project under ZP funds to ensure people are not inconvenienced, especially women and senior citizens in the area,” said Vas
Vas assured that more road projects are in the pipeline and will be taken up one by one.
“I have already undertaken several projects in Queloossim and will continue to do more. I urge people to approach me with their concerns so that I can prioritize works that truly benefit the residents,” she stated.
Expressing gratitude to the local governing body, Vas added, “I want to thank the panchayat members and Sarpanch for their support and for granting the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) for this project.”
Residents expressed relief that the long-pending road work was finally being addressed, ensuring better connectivity and ease of access for the community.
