BICHOLIM: In a shocking case of child abuse and murder, Bicholim Police have booked a woman and her boyfriend for allegedly killing a two-year-old girl by smothering her.
Following a detailed enquiry into Bicholim Police Station UD No. 45/2025 under Section 194 of the BNSS and based on autopsy report No. 868/2025, it was revealed that the victim’s mother, Nagamma (28), and her boyfriend Nithin Kumara, had been assaulting the minor girl over a period of time. On October 15, 2025, prior to 5.05 p.m., at Maulinguem, Bicholim, the accused allegedly assaulted the child and later murdered her by smothering.
Police said the motive behind the crime was that the accused disliked the victim as she was the daughter of Nagamma’s first husband.
Based on a state complaint filed by PSI Vikesh Hadfadkar, an offence has been registered against both accused persons under Section 103 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003.
Police have prepared FIR copies for submission to the JMFC, Bicholim, and concerned superiors. A wireless message has been flashed to PCR Panaji/Porvorim, and arrangements are being made to visit the crime scene along with the forensic team.
Further investigation is underway.
