CANACONA: 18 tourism structures were unsealed on Saturday at Agonda.Out of the total 63 sealed beachside establishments at Agonda last month, 18 tourism structures were Unsealed on Saturday in the presence of Canacona Dy. Collector Madhu Narvekar. Earlier, 5 establishments were unsealed following court orders, making a total of 23 tourism establishments now re-opened and keeping 40 establishments as still unoperatonal and closed for the 2024-25 tourism season now at its fag end.
According to sources from the authorities, based on the submission of necessary licenses and permits to the court by some of the 63 sealed establishment, the High Court has ruled to unseal these structures which were sealed in a 3-days drive last month.
On Saturday, team led by Canaocna Dy. Collector Madhu Narvekar descended on Southern side of Agonda beach and alongwith the VP Secretary Amol K Naik Gaunkar got 18 establishments, most of them resorts unsealed. Teams of Electricity department and PWD (Water-Supply) were also directed to re-establish the respective disconnected meters to restore the power supply and water –supply to all the unsealed tourism structures.
Following High court order five of the tourism establishments were unsealed and power/water supply was restored on two different dates last and previous weeks.
The affected parties have reportedly submitted all their documentations/permits to get the sealings revoked from the Court, while a few having no permissions nor permits have neither approached the court nor the GCZMA over their sealings, some having no papers whatsoever, have even completely dismantled and removed the structures restoring the land to its originality.
It is further learnt that in view of the PIL by Alcheimist, the court has reportedly fixed the matter of ownership of land separately asking the stakeholders to prove their ownership with the concerned authorities.
