PANAJI,: The North and South Goa District Administration has imposed section 144 of CrPC thereby banning public celebrations and gatherings, congregations during the upcoming festivals like Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Navaratri etc.within it’s jurisdiction.
In the order issued today, Collector IAS Ruchika Katyal said that it is essential to enforce social distancing of people to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 disease , which has seen a fresh surge.
The order is issued following directions from the Directorate of Health Services.
Collector said that any person contravening the order will be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian penal code.
The State today witnessed 170 new coronavirus cases, taking total tally of active cases to 1379.
