PANAJI: MGP Supremo Sudin Dhavalikar today has demanded with the Election Commission of India (ECI) to curtail the public meetings of political parties in the wake of soaring COVID-19 cases.
Dhavalikar also announced that defectors from MGP will not be allowed back into the party for the next six years.
“We at MGP demand the ECI to curtail public meetings of political parties in the wake of COVID cases. But it should not be that one party may be allowed, while for others, it’s not. The rule should be the same,” said Dhavalikar.
He further said that the COVID19 situation is going out of control and that the state is going back in time to the 2nd wave.
“NYE parties are going in full swing without a check. While rest of the states have enforced curfew, Goa led by CM Sawant, is lagging behind, and the situation will be worse if things are not got to control,” he added.
Speaking on defections, Sudin said that all those who left the MGP to join other parties will not be allowed back into MGP for the next 6 years.
“Many leaders from the BJP, including Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye, have approached us. This is not stealing as BJP does,” he added.
Responding to the allegations levelled by Marcaim BJP Block accusing him of failing to carry out development works in the constituency, Dhavalikar asked them to speak on the Rs 70 crore job scam in the PWD.
Sudin said that parents work hard to educate their children. From where will they bring money to buy jobs? BJP workers should look into the matter so that the poor people get jobs.
He said BJP failed to carry out new works and claimed that the government is now only inaugurating the highway and bridge works he initiated and former CM late Manohar Parrikar and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
