The Coronavirus seems to be in no mood to the holiday destination as Goa breached the 2000-mark of positive cases on Wednesday.
With today’s addition Goa now has 2039 confirmed cases and 1207 recoveries. The active cases are 824 and so far 8 people have succumbed.
With the rising number of cases and the load increasing on the COVID-designated hospital at Margao government now is on a lookout for a new COVID hospital in North Goa.
Sources revealed a few places have been selected and final decision is yet to be taken.
Meanwhile, the government has now decided to start the treatment of Remdesivir for critical patients. The first lot of Remdesivir was received from Hyderabad this afternoon, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has already said that the government will start plasma therapy for critical patients at GMC from next week.
The government will preserve 2000 plasma taken from COVID-cured patients.
“The cured patients will be asked for willingness before taking their plasma,” CM said.
On Monday there were several cases of COVID positive reported in Bardez.
A private hospital was sealed this morning after a patient attendant tested positive for COVID and a jail guard at Colva Jail also tested positive. Two in a family at Parra were also reported positive.
Another lady at a guest house in Tivaivaddo, Calangute tested positive. All high risk contacts of the lady have been quarantined.
