KERI: Goemakrponn has time and again brought to teh notice of the people how the taxpayer’s money is splurged on unwanted things.
This story is about the kiosks acquired by the Health Department. At a whopping cost of nearly Rs 3 lakhs for conducting COVID19 testing.
The kiosks, costing Rs 3 lakh each, were acquired for railway stations, borders, airport, bus stands and health departments.
However, the condition of this kiosk is bad within a year. Who is responsible for this?
One such kiosk at Keri check post at Sattari has been left to scrap.
The kiosk has gathered fungus, and plants have grown inside only because it is not being used.
The kiosk was planned for the safety of health workers, not to gt in direct contact with teh passengers.
But instead of using this kiosk, the tests are being conducted openly.
When contacted, a health official at teh Keri check post said that it has been abandoned during rains as the passengers have to queue outside, and since there is no shade, it creates confusion.
“We will reuse it once the rain stops,” he said.
