CANACONA: Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar delivered an inspiring message to young students, urging them to pursue their dreams with passion and perseverance. Speaking at the inauguration of the state-of-the-art multipurpose auditorium, ‘Kala Krida Angan’, at Centro Promotor De Instrucao (CPI)’s Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya in Char-Rasta, Tendulkar emphasized that there are no shortcuts to success.
“Chase your dreams, the path may be tough and challenging. Don’t try shortcuts. I remember when I was your age, I was a naughty kid. But you should know when to have fun and when to be serious in life,” Tendulkar said.
He reflected on his own journey in cricket: “When I started playing, I had a dream to play for my country. That naughty kid in me became more determined and focused. I worked harder because I wanted to represent India. There are no shortcuts in life. You can either have it ‘Right’ or have it ‘Now’—other than that, there is no ‘right now’.”
Tendulkar stressed the importance of discipline, dedication, and passion in any field. “Be it any game, you need to work hours every day to improve. Worship it with both hands. The moment you take things for granted, that is the moment of downfall. Whatever you do, give it 100%. Cricket was my passion; it was never my profession. You should be totally focused on whatever you want to achieve in life,” he said.
The new auditorium, equipped with advanced sports facilities, offers students a chance to hone their skills. Tendulkar encouraged them to grab the opportunity and give their best effort in every endeavor.
Hundreds of students and locals enthusiastically welcomed the Bharat Ratna awardee, chanting “Sachin, Sachin” as he spent an hour interacting with the school community. Before departing, Tendulkar also visited local temples, following his mother’s advice to experience Goa’s spiritual heritage.
