PANAJI: In a major crackdown on the drug trade, the Crime Branch arrested a Nigerian national in Siolim and seized narcotics along with ₹8.5 lakh suspected drug money.
The accused, Eziashi Ikechukwu Callistus (38), was caught red-handed at a rented premises in Igrez Vaddo, Marna, Siolim, Bardez. Police recovered 35.593 grams of cocaine, 4.485 grams of methamphetamine, 2.294 grams of MDMA, and ₹8.5 lakh in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The raid was carried out on Thursday by a Crime Branch team led by PI Manguesh Valvaikar, PI Prashal Dessai, PI Laxi Amonkar, PSI Amin A. Naik, LPSI Pragati Malik, ASI Shriram Salgaonkar, and constables Swapnil Simepurushkar and Adarsh Gawas.
The accused has been placed under arrest, and PSI Amin A. Naik is investigating the case under the supervision of DySP Crime and overall guidance of SP Crime Rahul Gupta, IPS.
