Goa Velha: The Crime Branch of Goa Police has successfully apprehended an accused in a cyber fraud case involving a fake parcel delivery scam.
The case, registered under Crime Branch PS Cr. No. 126/2025 on 27/12/2025, was filed by a Goa Velha resident who was cheated of ₹85,238.47 through a fake text message claiming a reattempt of a DTDC parcel delivery.
During the investigation, a team led by PI Mahesh G. Gadekar traced and arrested 38-year-old Susanta Bhue from Bamloi Part, Katarabaga, Thelkoloi PS, Sambalpur, Odisha. Analysis of the accused’s phone revealed extensive use of bulk SMS to target individuals across India with phishing links, including scams related to honey trapping, credit card rewards, gaming payouts, and part-time job offers.
The accused was taken into custody on 03/01/2026 and remanded to four days of police custody, with further hearings scheduled on 08/01/2026. The investigation remains ongoing under PI Mahesh G. Gadekar, supervised by Dy.SP Rajesh Kumar and SP Crime Rahul Gupta (IPS).
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant against such SMS-based frauds and report suspicious messages immediately.
