Panaji: The Crime Branch of Goa Police busted an illegal casino operationin Candolim, Bardez, in a late-night raid conducted in the early hours of Wednesday. Eleven individuals were arrested for operating and participating in a live card game of chance, Andar Bahar, in violation of Sections 3 and 4 of the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
Acting on a complaint filed by PI Tushar Lotliker, a team from the Crime Branch carried out the raid between 12:15 am and 3:00 am on August 6. The case has been registered under Crime Branch PS Cr. No. 87/2025.
The accused include individuals from across the country—Bihar, Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, and Goa—including the dealer and the shift manager of the casino. During the raid, police seized gambling equipment and paraphernalia valued at approximately ₹35 lakh. The seized items included a gambling table, 52 playing cards, a chip float with various denominations, six small result display screens, one medium display screen, a shuffler shoe, and other materials used in the illegal gaming activity.
All accused were placed under arrest at the scene and later released on bail.
The Crime Branch has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on illegal gambling operations in the state.
