Panaji: Two cross complaints have been registered following an altercation between neighbours at Campal, Panaji, in which members from both sides have accused each other of assault, wrongful restraint and causing injuries.
According to the first complaint, received on February 9, 2026, at 1.50 hrs, Barnabe Francisco Xavier Pinto (62), resident of House No. 146, Campal, Panaji, and engaged in the hospitality business, alleged that the incident occurred on February 8, 2026, at around 15.45 hrs near his residence.
He stated that the accused, Dr. Bossuet Afonso (65), resident of Campal, Panaji, wrongfully restrained and assaulted him along with his son Aaron Pinto (26) and daughter Dr. Elaine Pinto (32).
The complaint further alleges that the assault was carried out using a dangerous electric instrument, causing injuries to the complainant and his children.
In a counter complaint lodged on February 9, 2026, Mr. Antonio De Bossuet Afonso, resident of House No. 145, Campal, Panaji, stated that he had gone to survey a septic tank located on government property when the accused persons, identified as Barnabe Pinto, Aaron Pinto, Daniel Pinto and Miss Charmaine Pinto, all residents of House No. 146, Campal, allegedly confronted him.
He claimed that the accused had planted trees on the government property and, during the dispute, wrongfully restrained him by catching his neck, abused him with filthy words and assaulted him with fists and kicks, causing grievous injuries. He also alleged that he was threatened with dire consequences, including threats to kill.
Police have taken cognisance of both complaints and further investigation into the matter is in progress.
