Pernem: Mandrem Police have registered two cross complaints following a violent altercation arising out of a prolonged property dispute at Palniwada, Chonsai, Parcem in Pernem taluka.
According to police sources, Mandrem Police Station registered Crime No. 01/2026 on January 6, 2026 at 11.27 pm under Sections 374(2), 352, 118(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The complaint was filed by Mrs. Supriya Budhaji, wife of Sonu Budhaji, aged 55 years, a businesswoman and resident of House No. 545, Palniwada, Chonsai, Parcem, Pernem.
The complainant alleged that on January 6, 2025 at around 3.15 pm, six accused persons—Naresh Vasant Naik, Sneha Naresh Naik, Krishna Rajaram Naik, Revati Krishna Naik, Nandkishor Krishna Naik and Sangeeta Jaiwant Naik, all residents of Palniwada—acting with common intention, abused her, her husband Sonu Budhaji and her son Prajyot Budhaji using filthy language. The accused allegedly assaulted her husband and son with a wooden danda, slaps, fist blows and kicks, causing bodily injuries. The incident reportedly stemmed from an ongoing property dispute between the parties.
In a counter complaint, Mandrem Police registered Crime No. 02/2026 at 11.32 pm on the same day under Sections 374(2), 352, 118(1) read with 3(5) of BNS, 2023. The complaint was lodged by Mrs. Sneha Naresh Naik, resident of House No. 544, Palniwada, Parcem, Pernem.
As per the second complaint, on January 6, 2025 at around 1.45 pm, accused persons Sonu Budhaji and Prajyot Budhaji alias Korgaonkar allegedly abused the complainant and her husband Naresh Naik with filthy words. They further assaulted her nephew Nandkishor Naik with a metal rod, kicks and blows, causing bodily injuries, over the same property dispute.
Police have served notices under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in connection with the cases. Further investigation in Crime No. 01/2026 is being carried out by PSI Kunal Naik, while Crime No. 02/2026 is under investigation by PSI Jugal Divkar of Mandrem Police Station.
