Mupusa: Crozan Society, Bastota emerged winners of the state Hockey championship defeating Star Sports Club, Gudi by 8-0 goals, being played at Parso Truf, Sports Complex, Paddem Mupusa.
The Goan Hockey have conducted three championship matches. In the Junior men’s section, one of the most electrifying matches, Star Sports, Gudi played against Young sports, mupusa.
Both the teams played a 4-4 goal draw during the normal time of play. The halftime score was 2-1 in favour of Star Sports Club. Sulel Gaonkar put Star Sports Club ahead in the very 5th minute, and the hard-working Ramat got the equaliser for Young Sports Club in the 17th minute. Then again Sulel gave a lead for Star Sports in the 27th minute.
Both the teams were evenly balanced in all the departments of the game and focussed on ball possession throughout the third and fourth quarter and the score was 4-4 goals.
In the penalty shoot-out, Star Sports were Good and their goalkeeper was a hard nut to creak. Thus Star Sports won the penalty shootout by 2-1 goals. Aggregate 6-5 goals. To be the state champion for 2024.
In the women’s section (Junior ) San Antonio Warriors, got the better of Goan Hockey Promoters, Navelim by 6-0 goals, which was a one-sided match. Riddi Shiodkar, scored a ha trick, while Naveli (1), and Tiddi Hadfadjsr (2)were the other scores. Only Alliyah Periera was shown for the Navelim team.
In the (sr) section Crazon Society harmed Star Sports Club, Mapusa by 8-0 goals. Yes sab Sayed, Suresh Mayenkar and Subham Sharma, combined well and pumped in goals at regular intervals. Star Sports Goakkeeper Sachin Goankar showed some Good reflexes, or otherwise, the score would be in double digits.
At the prize distribution, Sr. Wendy Sequeira, Head Mistress Bastira School was the Chief Guest and later gave away the trophies, certificates and cash prizes to the teams. Smt. Feral Furtado, Secretary of Goan Hockey welcomed the gathering, while Anjulo P. Fernandes, proposed a vote of thanks also present was Goan Hockey president Shri. Abhay Bhamaikar.
