PANAJI: Cumborda SC secured their place in the next round of the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025 9-a-side Interward Football Tournament with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Novovaddo SC. The tournament, organized by Sporting Club Virabhat, is being held at the St. Alex Church ground in Curtorim.
The only goal of the match came in the 10th minute when Rio Fernandes found the back of the net after a well-placed assist from Valzino Fernandes, giving Cumborda an early lead. Novovaddo SC came close to equalizing before the break, but Milagres Fernandes was unfortunate as his shot struck the post and went out of play.
In the second half, Novovaddo pushed hard for an equalizer and dominated stretches of the game. However, luck was not on their side once again, as Myson Fernandes’ powerful shot hit the crossbar, denying them a goal.
Despite their persistent efforts, Novovaddo could not break through, and the match ended 1-0 in favor of Cumborda SC.
For his match-winning performance, Rio Fernandes was named Man of the Match, an award presented by Diago Fernandes, a founding member of Sporting Club Virabhat.
