Panaji: Cumborda Sports Club has secured a spot in the final of the 2nd Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament, organized by Black Arrow Boys Agxem Sports Club, after a hard-fought 3-0 victory over Novowaddo Sports Club via a penalty shootout in the second semifinal played at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim.
In a fast-paced, end-to-end encounter, both teams showcased attacking football but were unable to break the deadlock, with the score remaining 0-0 at the end of regulation time. The match was eventually decided by a penalty shootout.
Cumborda held their nerve in the tiebreaker, converting all three of their attempts through Rio, Marcus, and Mackson, while Novowaddo failed to convert any of their penalties.
Marcus of Cumborda SC, who delivered a standout performance, was named Man of the Match and received the award from footballer Savio Peixoto.
The much-anticipated final clash between Cumborda SC and Pidadigal SC is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 3rd August 2025.
