MARGAO: Cumborda Sports Club got the better of Paldem Sports Club 4-1 via the tiebreaker to enter into the next round of the 1st Caniza Peixoto Memorial football tournament Org by Agxem Sports Club and played at St.Alex Church ground custom.
The match started on a promising note and within five minutes heavy rains started and water was seen everywhere on the ground and playing condition was not easy but it seen rain or shine football was on and also the large numbers of fans seen around the ground.
Both teams had equal opportunity to score but due to rain it not possible. Diago of Paldem unleashed a long ranger shoot which was punched away by Cumborda goalkeeper Johnson Bagot later on Myrich of Cumborda’s header from the box missed the target by whiskers.
In the second session Cumbordas Roy, Benson and Veron tried to hit the target while Benny, sexy and Godwin excelled for Paldem and at full-time both teams remained on 0-0 and made way for a penalty kick to decide the winner.
In the resultant tiebreaker, Cumborda scored through Myrick, Sam, Veron and Maxon while palms favio found the net.
Godwin Mascarenhas of Paldem Sports Club was awarded man of the match by conny Peixoto vice-president of the club.
