CURCHOREM: Before the next assembly elections, the Curchorem Health Center would be transformed into a complete sub-district hospital with all the amenities required, according to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s announcement.
At the health center, he was speaking at a massive medical camp where more than 500 people received free medical care.
In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Rane stated that the government is dedicated to providing healthcare services at the patient’s door.
“Goa is the only state where free diabetes treatment is provided, and free medicines worth Rs 200 crore are distributed to patients every year. In order to shield patients from this fatal illness, efforts are also being done to diagnose cancer early,” he stated.
He added that in an effort to speed up emergency response times, the state government is improving ambulance services. “A proposal to approve 75 additional ambulances has been submitted,” he stated.
Rane reaffirmed the government’s determination to take tough measures against the Goa Medical College (GMC) “hearse van mafia,” who are accused of charging outrageous prices for body transportation. He declared that free hearse van services would soon be provided by the government.
“It is inhumane to charge bereaved families between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000. “I will not put up with such behavior,” he declared.
In response to Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral’s request, Rane promised that the health center would soon have a CT scan capability.
