CURCHOREM: Quepem Police have registered a case after a man from Curchorem was allegedly cheated of ₹3.35 lakh in an online marriage scam.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Alves Palacido Fernandes, a resident of Curchorem. He stated that on February 13, 2026, while at Quepem Market, he came in contact with a woman through a Facebook profile named “Ariana Jonathan.”
The woman shared her mobile number and began communicating with the complainant on WhatsApp. During their conversations, she claimed that she was coming to Goa from London and proposed marriage to him.
Later, on March 6, 2026, the complainant received a phone call informing him that the woman had arrived at Delhi Airport and required money for airport clearance.
Believing the claim, the complainant transferred ₹3,35,720 to bank accounts provided by the accused persons identified as Manu Kumar, Abhay Singh and Ankit Kumar through bank transactions and Google Pay.
Police said that after receiving the money, the accused demanded more funds. When the complainant refused to send additional money, they stopped responding to his calls and messages.
Quepem Police have registered a case of cheating and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Digamber Bondre.
