Curchorem: Curchorem Police successfully traced and reunited two minor girls with their families following their alleged abduction from Curchorem on July 17, 2025. The girls, aged 13 and 14, were reported missing by their mothers, who lodged complaints stating that unknown persons had kidnapped their daughters from their lawful guardianship at around 7:56 PM and 8:28 PM respectively.
Based on the complaints, Curchorem Police registered two separate offences under Crime Nos. 63/2025 and 64/2025, invoking Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003.
The investigation was led by PSI Gautam Shetkar and PSI Prajyot Bakhale under the supervision of PI Melson Colaco. A dedicated team comprising PSI Shetkar, PSI Bakhale, HC 4673, HC 5489, and PC 8178 was deployed within Curchorem jurisdiction to trace the minors.
Efforts included extensive technical surveillance, examination of CCTV footage from the vicinity, and door-to-door enquiries with neighbours, locals, shopkeepers, and prominent citizens. The team also visited key transit points like the KTC Bus Stand in Curchorem and the Sanvordem Railway Station.
The diligent investigation bore fruit when both girls were successfully traced on July 18, 2025, with assistance from local intelligence. They were safely handed over to their respective family members.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of PI Melson Colaco, supervised by SDPO Quepem Shri Ashish Shirodkar, and under the overall supervision of SP South Goa, Shri Tikam Singh Verma, IPS.
