CURCHOREM: The investigation into the alleged sex racket in Curchorem has gathered momentum after a second minor victim lodged a formal complaint against Soham Naik (20), a resident of Madegal-Cacora and son of a municipal councillor. The case has sparked widespread outrage across South Goa, prompting intensified police action.
South Goa Superintendent of Police Santosh Dessai confirmed that three separate cases have been registered so far and appealed to other victims to come forward, assuring complete confidentiality. He added that investigators are relying on scientific and forensic methods to build a strong case.
According to police, the complaints point to a pattern of manipulation and exploitation. In one case, a minor alleged that Naik gained her trust between January and June 2023 on the pretext of marriage, before allegedly sexually assaulting her at isolated locations. The accused is also alleged to have recorded and circulated videos of the assaults.
In another complaint, a minor stated that Naik contacted her between 2024 and 2025, sent obscene material, and later resorted to blackmail. He allegedly threatened to reveal sensitive personal details unless she provided contact information of other girls.
Police have invoked stringent provisions against the accused, including charges under the POCSO Act, Goa Children’s Act, and the Information Technology Act, along with offences such as rape and criminal intimidation. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further developments are expected as more evidence comes to light.
