PONDA: Curti-Khandepar panchayat is on the verge of making a record of nine Sarpanchas at the end of its five-year tenure.
When just two to three months were left for the Panchayat election, the Panchayat members had brought a no-confidence motion against its Sarpanch and deputy, who were elected just three months back.
With this development, the locals blamed the Panchayat body for instability and questioned whether they were doing it for development or their vested interest.
The Curti-Khandepar Sarpanch Bhika Kerkar, who was elected as Sarpanch of Curti Khandepar Panchayat three and half months ago on 15 December 2021, faces the no-confidence motion brought by six out of eleven panch members at Curti Khandepar Panchayat.
Similarly, the same six Panch members have also given a no-confidence motion notice against Deputy Sarpanch Sharmila Sangaonkar. So far, Curti Khandepar Panchayat saw eight Sarpanch in four and half year tenure.
Those Panch members who signed the no-confidence motion against Sarpanch and Deputy include Daid Naik, Rukma Khandeparkar, Gurudas Khedekar, Shravani Gaude, Shailesh Shet and Santan Fernandes. The Notice is submitted to Ponda BDO and Panchayat Secretary.
It may be recalled that the musical chair play has been going on in this Panchayat since the Panchayat election held in 2017.
So far, eight Sarpanch enjoyed the post and the. Locals were criticising for musical chair, alleging development work was halted due to frequent changes of Sarpanch.
Eight Sarpanch in four and a half year
It may be recalled that musical chair Curti-Khandepar Panchayat got eight Sarpanch because of the no-confidence motion.
After Panchayat Body was elected, Rukma Khandeparkar became first Sarpanch, then Santan Fernandes, Dadi Naik, Shailesh Shet, Shravani Gaude, while Gurudas Khedekar became twice the Sarpanch of Panchayat and Bhika Kerkar who is now facing no-confidence motion was the eight Sarpanch.
