Margao: Curtorim Gymkhana battled their way into the quarterfinals of the 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy with a thrilling 2-1 win over Fr. Agnel YSC Paroda, in a match held at the Raia Panchayat Ground and organized by the Arlem Youth Association.
The match kicked off with high intensity, and it was Curtorim Gymkhana who drew first blood in the 12th minute when Aleewad Mascarenhas slotted home the opener. However, their lead was short-lived as Fr. Agnel YSC Paroda responded swiftly—just two minutes later—with a well-placed finish from Godwin Fernandes, leveling the score at 1-1.
Both sides pressed hard for the winner, but it was Elton Mascarenhas who emerged as the hero for Curtorim. In the 48th minute, he rose to meet a precise cross from Nickson Casthana on the right wing, heading in what proved to be the match-winning goal.
Elton Mascarenhas was named Man of the Match for his decisive contribution, receiving the award from Johnson Cardoso, Assistant Treasurer of the Arlem Youth Association.
Curtorim Gymkhana now advance to the last eight of the prestigious tournament, keeping their title hopes alive with a spirited display.
