MARGAO: Curtorim Gymkhana secured a place in the last 8, in the 49th Seamen Football tournament played on Chandor grounds defeating the 9 men Dramapur sports club 4-2.
Anslem Fernandes opened an account for Curtorim in the 11th minute in a one-to-one situation with the rival Custodian.
The first half was a treat to the eyes of the spectators. The Dramapur boys went all out but could find the rival nets. Curtorim Gymkhana led 1- 0 at the lemon break.
Changing sides Jaden Fernandes dribbled past the Curtorim defence and found the nets hoodwinking the Curtorim Custodian in the 33rd minute to find the equaliser.
By mid second half, the 9 men Dramapur seemed exhausted which helped Maldino Rodrigues dribble past Dramapur men and score in the 41st minute. and again scored to complete his brace in the 43rd minute.
For Curtorim, there was no looking back and they made some dangerous forays into the rival territory taking advantage Veron Fernandes took a powerful shot into the Dramapur goal taking their Custodian by surprise in the 54th minute and taking the tally to 4-1.
Dramapur lads gave their all though exhausted, and succeeded in reducing the final tally in the 60th minute to 4-2 through Jaden’s brace.
Jaden Fernandes was awarded Man of the Match.
