CUNCOLIM: Curtorim Gymkhana booked their berth in the grand finale of the 1st All Goa Inter Village Mansion House Football Cup 2025 with a gritty 1-0 victory over Cuncolim Union at Cuncolim Ground. They will now lock horns with F.C. Siolim in the much-awaited title clash on September 7.
Backed by home support, Cuncolim Union started brightly, with Aaron Fernandes testing early but failing to hit the target. Curtorim, however, made their chance count in the 19th minute when Savio Peixoto curled a superb free kick beyond the goalkeeper’s reach to give his side the lead.
Cuncolim pressed hard for the equaliser through efforts from Fernandes and Vinod Velip, but Curtorim’s defense stood firm, carrying the 1-0 advantage into the break.
The second half turned into a battle of nerves. Cuncolim threw men forward, with Fernandes, Tushar Gaunkar, and Wilson Fernandes all coming close, but Curtorim’s keeper and backline held their ground. In stoppage time, Cuncolim’s last chance came from a free kick, but Viraj Velip’s miscue dashed the home crowd’s hopes.
At the final whistle, Curtorim Gymkhana’s discipline and resilience sealed a hard-fought win and a ticket to the championship showdown.
Curtorim’s Viraj Velip was named Mansion House Man of the Match for his commanding display, with the award presented by Cuncolim Union’s Sailesh Vaidya.
With the result, the tournament finale is set Curtorim Gymkhana will take on F.C. Siolim on September 7 at 4:30 pm at Cuncolim Ground, promising an electrifying climax to the inaugural edition.
