Margao): A 46-year-old woman from Nessai, Curtorim, died at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, after she was bitten by a snake while brushing her teeth outside her home, police said on Tuesday.
According to Maina-Curtorim police, the deceased, identified as Fatima, was initially rushed to the South Goa District Hospital before being referred to GMC. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to the bite.
A post-mortem examination concluded that the cause of death was intracranial haemorrhage and shock resulting from a haemotoxic snakebite, as well as a head injury caused by blunt force trauma.
Police said the injury may have occurred when the woman collapsed after being bitten. Officials clarified that no foul play is suspected at this stage.
