DABOLIM: Middle East Flag Carrier Oman Air today, in communication via SMS and Email, has notified its customers that it will now operate from New Mopa International Airport from January 1, 2023.
The airline has informed that it will stop operating from the current Dabolim International Airport from January 1, 2023.
“Dear Guest, Beginning January 1 2023, all Oman Air flights arriving to and departing from Goa will operate out of the new Mopa International Airport (GOX). Oman Air flights will no longer operate from Goal International Airport (GOI). For more details, please visit www.omanair.com. Fly confidently, fly Oman Air,” said Oman Air
Oman Air is the first international airline that has shifted its operations from the Dabolim airport to the New Mopa International Airport.
The State government is awaiting an appointment from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to finalise the date for commissioning the Greenfield International Airport at Mopa next month.
“The airport at Dabolim will not be shut once the greenfield international airport at Mopa is commissioned,” said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
With its Aerodrome Licence from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) on the way, the airport is now a step closer to becoming operational. A successful trial of flight landing was conducted earlier this month.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had announced that the project would be launched on August 15, on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day. However, the same could not take place.
The foundation stone for the ambitious second airport in the State was laid by the Prime Minister in November 2016. The project is being implemented through GMR Airports Limited.
The Mopa Airport is being constructed in four phases, with an annual passenger capacity of 4.4 million in phase I, 5.8 million phases II, 9.4 million in phase III and 13.1 million in phase IV.
