Cuncolim: A 29-year-old daily wage labourer lost his life after a wall collapsed on him while he was at work in Nagelo, Cuncolim, on Tuesday. Cuncolim Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated further inquiry into the incident.
According to police, on February 18, 2026 at around 12:09 hrs, a phone call was received from a doctor at PHC Balli informing that Mohammad Sabir, 29, resident of Ghotna, Cuncolim, originally from Parshadpur, Araira, Bihar, had been brought dead to the health centre from Nagelo, Cuncolim.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that the deceased was engaged in daily wage labour work at the house of Closuton Almeida, a resident of Nagelo, Cuncolim. While working at the site, a wall reportedly collapsed and Sabir got trapped under the debris. He was immediately shifted to PHC Balli for treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police visited the scene and conducted a panchanama of the unnatural death occurrence and an inquest over the body. The body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for further medico-legal formalities. Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Aditya Sawant of Cuncolim Police Station.
