PANAJI: In a vibrant display of cricketing prowess and community spirit, the 7th Daivadnya Cricket Cup 2025, organized by the Akhil Gomantakiya Daivadnya Brahmin Youth Association (AGDBYA), concluded with a grand ceremony at the S.A.G ground in Fatorda. This event not only celebrated the triumph of local cricket teams but also honored distinguished guests and outstanding athletes from other disciplines.
The tournament, held on March 1st and 2nd, 2025, brought together 14 teams from across Goa, including two women’s teams, marking a significant milestone in promoting cricket in the region. Dr. Lt. Col (Retd) Vinod Dyaneshwar Salkar and Shri Mukesh Ghatwal added prestige to the event as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively. During the ceremony, Miss Simran Santosh Haldankar was felicitated for her remarkable achievement of securing a Bronze Medal at the South Asian Karate Championship 2024.
The competition culminated with Dambab XI claiming victory in the men’s category, defeating Dynamic Cricketers, while Dakshin Warriors emerged as champions in the women’s category, overcoming Bardez Regals. Key awards included the Man of the Series to Ayush Verlekar and Best Batsman to Amrut Verlekar, highlighting the exceptional talent on display. The event was attended by over 300 people and featured a grand trophy distribution ceremony, where the winning teams and individuals received their accolades. Smt. Seema R. Vernekar, the newly elected President of AGDBYA, welcomed the guests and highlighted the association’s year-round activities. Mr. Sahil Lotlikar, Secretary of AGDBYA, expressed gratitude to all contributors for their valuable support.
