Panaji: VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao, emerged champions at the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Weightlifting Championship for Men 2025-26, held on September 9 and 10 at Jubilee Hall, Taleigao Plateau. P.G. Goa University secured the runners-up position, while V.M. Salgaocar College of Law finished third.
A highlight of the championship was the performance of Gorakshnath Waifalkar of P.G. Goa University, who won the prestigious Goa University Iron Man title in the Up to & Including 110 kg category. He lifted a total of 272 kg (Snatch 126 kg + Clean & Jerk 146 kg) at a body weight of 94.9 kg.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by chief guest Asst. Prof. Dr. Sandesh Bugde of Goa University’s School of Chemical Sciences, guest of honour Dr. Manoj Hede, College Director of Physical Education and Sports at Govind Kare College of Law, and Mr. Jayesh Naik, National Category 1 referee. They were joined by Mr. Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University, who together presented trophies and medals to the winners.

* 79 kg: Sanjeev Revodkar (P.G. Goa University) – 192 kg
* 88 kg: Amogh Tengse (Vidya Prabodhini College) – 185 kg
* 94 kg: Manjish Otavanekar (V.M. Salgaocar College of Law) – 174 kg
