PANAJI: Dandolem Sports Club secured a spot in the next round of the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025 after defeating Madel SC 2-0 in the ongoing 9-a-side Interward Football Tournament, organized by the Sporting Club of Virabhat at St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim.
Dandolem took the lead in the 15th minute through Ryan Fernandes, who calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0. Madel had a golden opportunity to equalize in the 20th minute, but Maxwell’s powerful shot was brilliantly saved by Dandolem goalkeeper Vincy Cardozo.
In the second half, Dandolem continued to press and doubled their lead in the 40th minute, courtesy of a composed finish by Irun Hilario.
Despite Madel’s persistent efforts to get back into the game, the Dandolem defence held firm, and the match ended 2-0 in their favour.
Ryan Fernandes of Dandolem SC was named Man of the Match, and the award was presented by Costancio Castanha, founder member of Sporting Club Virabhat.
