MARGAO: Residents of Danvondem met the Chief Officer of the Margao Municipal Council (MMC), demanding the immediate removal of barricades installed in connection with a proposed mega project in the area.
The locals expressed strong opposition to the barricades, stating that they were causing inconvenience to residents and motorists. They also raised concerns about the potential impact of the proposed project on the locality, including accessibility and day-to-day movement.
During the meeting, the delegation urged the MMC to take prompt action and remove the barricades until clarity on the project is provided. Residents emphasized that the installation had been carried out without adequate consultation with the local community.
After hearing the grievances, the Chief Officer assured the residents that the barricades would be removed within seven days. The assurance brought temporary relief to the delegation.
Residents welcomed the assurance but said they would closely monitor the situation to ensure timely action by the authorities. They added that further steps would be considered if the barricades are not removed within the stipulated timeframe.
