PANAJI: A daring robbery took place on late Wednesday night, with thieves targeting five shops, including two liquor stores, in the bustling area behind the Old Secretariat, heading towards Altinho in Panaji. The robbery, which occurred in the early hours, has left both business owners and local residents shocked.
CCTV footage from the scene shows the thieves carrying out a reconnaissance mission prior to the heist. They are seen surveying the area, carefully planning their moves before executing the crime. The thieves managed to gain entry to the shops by bending the shutters, bypassing the standard security measures.
Once inside, they quickly ransacked the premises, making off with valuable items, including significant amounts of cash and merchandise, particularly from the two liquor stores.
While the full extent of the thefts is still being determined, early reports suggest that the thieves were well-prepared and executed the robbery with precision. Local authorities have launched an investigation, with the police reviewing the CCTV footage and conducting interviews with shop owners and witnesses.
Authorities have assured the public that they are working diligently to identify the suspects. In the meantime, additional police patrols and surveillance measures are expected to be implemented in the area to prevent further criminal activity.
This theft highlights growing concerns over security in key commercial areas of Panaji, prompting calls for enhanced safety protocols.
