Chorao: In a spirited display of school-level football, Dayanand High School clinched the championship title in the 7-a-Side Football League Tournament organized by the Chodan Super School Complex, under the leadership of Raghuvir and Premavati Salkar Higher Secondary School, Chorao. The tournament took place at Saude Ground, Chorao, and was coordinated by Physical Education Teacher Jaganath Ghatwal.
The event was graced by Soniya Vaibhav Salkar as the Chief Guest and Geeta Pramod Salkar as the Guest of Honour. In her address, Soniya underlined the deeper values of the sport, stating that football goes beyond victory or defeat — it cultivates discipline among players. Geeta echoed the sentiment, encouraging students to embrace sports for their overall growth and well-being.
Dignitaries present at the occasion included Premanand Mahambare, President of the Chorao Educational Society, and Sandeep Sawal, Principal, both of whom emphasized the role of sports in shaping student character and leadership.
The tournament saw intense competition among the participating schools. Our Lady of Divar High School secured the fourth position, followed by St. Aloysius High School, Divar, in third place. St. Bartholomew’s High School, Chorao, finished as the runners-up after a close contest in the finals. Dayanand High School emerged victorious, edging past their opponents with a decisive 1-0 win via a penalty.
The prize distribution ceremony was ably conducted by Teacher Luiza Pereira, who also delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the tournament.
The event marked a celebration of sporting spirit, teamwork, and youthful energy, reinforcing the importance of physical education in school life.
