PANAJI: In a heart-stopping finale at the Seraulim Panchayat Ground, Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) Fatorda clinched a hard-fought victory over Wilred Leisure SC Curtorim in the 17th All Goa Inter-Village Seraulim Panchayat Cup Football Tournament. The match, organized by the United Sports Club of Seraulim, ended in a goalless draw after regular time, setting the stage for a dramatic penalty shootout.
The regular time saw both teams squander numerous scoring opportunities, each side failing to capitalize on their chances. This stalemate necessitated a tiebreaker, which would ultimately decide the winner. The tension was palpable as the players prepared for the penalty shootout, knowing that every kick could be the difference between victory and defeat.
DBO Fatorda proved to be the more composed side in the penalty shootout, converting four out of their five penalties. Edgar Noronha, Hanslon Furtado, Roque Borges, and Alfred Noronha were the heroes for DBO Fatorda, each scoring their respective penalties. On the other hand, Wilred Leisure SC Curtorim managed to score through Savio Peixoto, Nickon Castanha, and Ryan Fernandes, but it was not enough to overcome their opponents.
Both goalkeepers displayed exceptional skill, saving two penalties each during the initial five kicks, further intensifying the drama of the shootout. In the end, DBO Fatorda’s precision and composure in the tiebreaker secured their 4-3 victory, advancing them in the tournament.
