New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said that de risking has become an increasingly important focus for countries as the global economy undergoes rapid and far reaching change. Addressing the launch of the European Legal Gateway Office in New Delhi, he noted that supply chains are being reconfigured, technological advances are transforming the nature of work, and demographic trends are diverging significantly across regions.
He observed that the idea of a global workforce is steadily taking shape. According to him, nations that successfully align talent mobility with opportunity, while ensuring transparency and fairness in legal processes, will be better placed to manage the ongoing transition. He also highlighted India’s expanding role as a major contributor to global talent pools.
Referring to the India AI Impact Summit held in Delhi, Jaishankar said discussions centred on the ability of artificial intelligence to bridge divides, accelerate economic growth, promote social development and deliver large scale solutions.
On ties with Europe, he described relations between India and the European Union as entering a promising phase. He said both sides now see each other as natural and preferred partners with growing strategic alignment. The recently concluded free trade agreement, along with a Security and Defence Partnership and other outcomes of the India EU Summit, has laid out a roadmap for deeper cooperation. He added that the Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda towards 2030 marks a new chapter focused on prosperity, security and sustainability.
The newly inaugurated European Legal Gateway Office, launched in the presence of EU Executive Vice President Henna Virkkunen, is the first such facility established by the EU in a partner country. It aims to facilitate safe and informed mobility for Indian professionals in the ICT sector. The office will provide guidance on qualification frameworks and mobility pathways across all 27 EU member states, while also helping European employers and institutions connect with Indian talent.
