PANJIM: As government decides to go ahead with the IIT project, the Shel-Melauli villagers have outrightly rejected it claiming that government is not bothered about the loss that villagers will face.
The villagers have also urged Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to visit the village and talk to the people at large.
However, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant urged the Shel-Melauli villagers to co-operate with the project.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane today held a meeting with villagers who had been protesting against the IIT project.
Addressing the media after the meeting, CM Sawant said that his government is ready to compensation for the land provided legal documents are produced.
“Government has already de-notified around 40,000 sq mts of land which included two temples and a fresh proposal has been made in this regard. We are committed to the locals,” Sawant said
He said, “We have asked the villagers to approach government with their valid documents in order for them to claim their land and take any kind of compensation,”
He further informed that these claims would be processed in a fast track manner without any delay. This is a project with National pride.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister said that the IIT project which will be constructed would also be shared with locals in every manner.
“Government will not do injustice to any villager and as far as this project is concerned,” he added
