Panaji: Panaji Police have launched an investigation after a decomposed male body was found under the Atal Setu Flyover, near Kranti Circle, on the stretch proceeding from Ponda towards the multipurpose parking area.
Police received a phone call from an unknown person informing about the presence of a dead body under the flyover. Upon receiving the call, LPSI Sapna Gawas of Panaji Police Station immediately visited the site and confirmed the discovery.
During inspection, the deceased was found wearing short pants, and a search of his right pocket led to the recovery of an Election Card and two ATM cards — one of Kotak Mahindra Bank and another of PNB Bank. The identification documents revealed the deceased to be Tontang Morongshel (29), son of Tontang Ako, a resident of Biyang, Tehsil Machi, Chandel district, Manipur.
The body was in a decomposed condition, and police have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the cause of death.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of LPSI Sapna Gawas of Panaji Police Station.
