PORVORIM: The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, in collaboration with the Rural Development Agency (RDA), Government of Goa, has launched the Deendayal Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDGKY) in the state, aimed at providing job-oriented skill training to unemployed rural youth.
The scheme is targeted at students who have passed Class 8 to Class 10 and are currently unemployed. Under the programme, selected youth will undergo six months of skill-based training designed to enhance employability and link trainees directly with job opportunities.
Training under the DDGKY will be completely free of cost, including learning materials and uniforms. Both residential and non-residential courses will be offered. Residential trainees will be provided free hostel accommodation and food facilities, along with a stipend during the training period.
The government has assured 100 per cent placement opportunities for candidates who successfully complete the training.
The programme will be conducted at 17 training centres across 12 talukas in Goa.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced the launch of the scheme, stating that the initiative will play a key role in empowering rural youth through skill development and employment generation.
