New Delhi: A four-storey building collapsed in Delhi’s Mustafabad area around 3 am on Saturday, claiming the lives of at least four people and injuring several others. Fourteen individuals have been rescued so far, while 8–10 people are still feared trapped beneath the debris, according to senior police officer Sandeep Lamba.
Rescue efforts are ongoing with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services, and Delhi Police on the scene. The injured have been shifted to GTB Hospital for treatment.
Divisional Fire Officer Rajendra Atwal said authorities received an emergency call at around 2:50 am, and rescue teams rushed to the site where the building had completely collapsed. The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined, though an investigation is underway.
The incident follows a night of heavy rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms in parts of Delhi. Just last week, a wall of an under-construction building collapsed during a dust storm near Madhu Vihar, resulting in one death and two injuries.
In a separate incident reported Saturday, five members of a family were killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district after their house collapsed during a storm.
