MOPA: Mopa Airport Police have arrested Akshay Vashisht, a resident of Delhi and administrator of the Facebook page Real Talk Clips, for circulating a video with false and alarming claims about Manohar International Airport, Mopa.
The action followed a complaint filed by the Social Media Monitoring Cell at PHQ, Panaji. A case was registered on Monday under Crime No. 46/25, Section 353(2) read with 3(5) of the BNS, 2023.
According to police, Vashisht had uploaded a video titled “Goa Ka Haunted Airport”, in which he propagated superstitious and malicious content allegedly aimed at gaining popularity for his channel. Investigators traced him to Dwarka, Delhi, and a team from Mopa Airport Police brought him to Goa, where he was taken into custody on Wednesday evening.
The video described a series of ghost stories linked to the airport, claiming it was constructed on a cremation ground and that several workers had died during the project. It also referred to a peepal tree said to hold mystical powers and alleged that a couple was sacrificed during the construction to ensure its completion.
Further, Vashisht suggested that pilots avoided night flights due to supposed paranormal sightings, including a woman in a white saree running beside aircraft during takeoff. He also narrated purported experiences of an airport worker, identified only as Kabir, who allegedly encountered shadows, strange voices, and a lingering “presence” that followed him home.
During the operation, police seized Vashisht’s mobile phone, laptop, and camera, which are believed to have been used to produce and share the video.
