DELHI: Delhiites are voting to elect their government today. The capital is witnessing a tri-cornered contest between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which is eyeing a third straight term, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress which are looking for a comeback.
All 70 seats of Delhi are polling in a single phase today (Wednesday, February 5), while the results of the high-stake Assembly polls will be declared on February 8.
As many as 1.56 crore voters will decide the fate of 699 candidates contesting across 70 constituencies. Of the voters, 83.76 lakh are men, 72.36 lakh are women, and 1,267 are third-gender voters.
Notably, AAP led by Arvind Kejriwal won the last two Delhi Assembly Elections held in 2015 and 2020. While the Congress was in power in Delhi for 15 years in a row till 2013. The BJP has not been in power in Delhi for the last 27 years.
The Delhi Assembly Election 2025 is a high-stakes political event that will determine the future leadership of the national capital. With 70 Assembly constituencies up for grabs and multiple parties vying for control, voter turnout is expected to be a crucial factor in shaping the election results.
As the citizens of Delhi step out to cast their votes, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is providing real-time updates on constituency-wise polling percentages, trends, and other significant data.
This election is particularly significant as it comes at a time when Delhi’s political dynamics are evolving rapidly. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Indian National Congress (INC) are locked in a fierce battle, each hoping to sway the electorate with their policies, promises, and governance records.
While AAP seeks to retain its stronghold, the BJP aims to expand its influence, and Congress looks to regain lost ground.
