Rumdamol: A demolition drive planned by the Rumdamol Village Panchayat was abruptly halted on Friday after the occupants of a disputed property produced a last-minute stay order from the court.
The Panchayat had mobilised its machinery for the demolition following a court directive in connection with a land encroachment complaint.
Officials from the Panchayat, Public Works Department, and the Electricity Department, along with a strong police presence, were already at the site when the action was called off.
However, just as the operation was about to begin, the occupying party produced a temporary stay order from the court, forcing the authorities to suspend the demolition. As a result, the government machinery, including bulldozers, was withdrawn without any action being taken.
The matter now awaits further directions from the court.
