PANAJI: The District Election Officer (DEO), South Goa, has announced the schedule for filing claims and objections, issuance of notices, and disposal procedures prescribed by the Election Commission of India as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls – 2026.
According to the DEO, the Draft Electoral Roll prepared for SIR-2026, along with the last part of the electoral roll relating to Service Voters, was published on December 16, 2025, and handed over to representatives of recognised political parties.
The period for filing claims and objections will be from December 16, 2025, to January 15, 2026. The notice phase, which includes issuance of notices, hearings, verification, decisions on Enumeration Forms, and disposal of claims and objections, will be carried out concurrently by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) from December 16, 2025, to February 7, 2026.
The checking of health parameters of the electoral rolls and obtaining the Election Commission’s permission for final publication will be completed by February 10, 2026, while the final publication of the Electoral Roll is scheduled for February 14, 2026.
Members of the public may file their claims and objections before the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) within the stipulated period. Hearings and disposal of claims and objections will be conducted by EROs and Assistant EROs at notified venues across South Goa Assembly Constituencies, including Priol, Ponda, Siroda, Marcaim, Mormugao, Vasco da Gama, Dabolim, Cortalim, Nuvem, Curtorim, Fatorda, Margao, Benaulim, Navelim, Cuncolim, Velim, Quepem, Curchorem, Sanvordem, Sanguem and Canacona.
The DEO further stated that any political party or elector aggrieved by the decision of the ERO may file an appeal before the District Election Officer under Section 24(a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. A second appeal under Section 24(b) can be filed before the Chief Electoral Officer, as per Rule 27 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
