New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone for several development projects in Gujarat and addressed a rally in Bhavnagar, emphasizing the importance of self-reliance for India’s progress. Highlighting dependence on other countries as the nation’s “biggest enemy,” Modi urged citizens to work toward Atmanirbhar Bharat.
“Today, India is moving forward with the spirit of ‘Vishwabandhu’. We have no major enemy in the world. Our biggest enemy is our dependence on other countries. This is our biggest enemy, and together we must defeat this enemy of India, the enemy of dependence,” he said.
Modi further explained that excessive foreign dependence could undermine the country’s growth and self-respect. “For global peace, stability, and prosperity, the country with the world’s largest population must become self-reliant. If we remain dependent on others, our self-respect will be hurt. We cannot leave the future of 1.4 billion countrymen to others,” he added.
The Prime Minister concluded by asserting that the path to overcoming challenges lies in self-reliance: “There is only one medicine for a hundred sorrows, and that is a self-reliant India.”
